Seriousness

Friday, January 25th, 2008

Being too serious can drive you crazy.  Its what I’ve read from tipsforsuccess.org on the article about seriousness.  Maybe we haven’t noticed it sometimes that we are too serious and preoccupied of our job or tasks that we have overlooked some areas in our life.  We may have even forgotten to smile at times.  I have seen in movies or even in tv programs.  There are situations mostly of parents and child that the parents are too busy earning for money that they have not much time for their children; or that they have been to serious over something that their loved ones are affected.  They become unapproachable, irritable, and the likes.

Being too serious can cause stress, anxiety, worries and failure.  Success comes with a lot of factors and being too serious over just one factor, you might overlook the others.  We need to smile at times, laugh a little, and have a break.  This will help us overcome stress from work so that we can handle our problems or pressures in a light manner.  It is easier to think when we are not under stressed and do our jobs well.

The whole point of this is not trying to say that we should not treat our work or other things seriously but we just need to lighten up ourselves.  We need to lighten up our mind so that we can function well.  There is nothing wrong if a top executive of a company joins his/her employees to a one night of fun.  If doing it is too much already, well, a simple smile under a load of pressure can lighten up not only their feelings but yours as well.

Stay Motivated

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Motivation is what we need in life in order to succeed, to keep going with our tasks or work, to keep ourself alive or energetic, and the likes.  We look for ways on how to motivate ourselves, or to find a motivator for us.  But what if this motivating factor wears off?  So we need to maintain our motivation.

Staying motivated is necessary if we want to be productive always.  Here are ways that might help maintain our motivation:

  • Attend activities that will help you improve your skills or even your personality.  Activities like seminars, workshops, trainings that are related to your work or with topics that you can apply to yourself.
  • Schedule a vacation, trip, or just break from work to give yourself a rest.
  • Stay positive through reading materials or listening to positive and uplifting music.  Stay positive also by being with positive people or interacting with them.

Those are just few suggestions.  You could have other ways on how to stay motivated.  It actually depends on what suits you best.  But what’s important is that we are motivated and we stay motivated all the time.

Personal Growth

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Personal growth is the ultimate way to success.  If you want to succeed, you need growth - spiritual growth, profit growth, career growth, and the likes.  But all of this wouldn’t happen without personal growth.  It all starts from there.  You can grow in any other aspects if you start from yourself.  It’s YOU.  It all comes back to YOU.

This simply means that the key to your success is you.  Not other people, or their influence, but you.  Learn to persevere, believe, dare, be positive, and even smile.  A smile can work wonders or miracles.   In any successful ventures, the key is always with the person behind it.  In selling products, those who has got the best strategy has the biggest sales even if they do not have the best product.   Its not just the way they sell their product but the way they deal with people.  Trust and credibility are important factors here also.

To succeed with your goals is like making an investment.  You develop yourself with the skills and everything needed to achieve it.  You need to get motivated, get focused, and set your mind towards that goal.  Also, in anything you do, you need balance.  Be sure that you don’t step on other people.  Sometimes, people become obsessed of getting successful that they forget the people who loves them.

Inspiring Ben

Friday, January 4th, 2008

Here is an inspiring story I found that would really amaze us:

Putting Things in Perspective
Oftentimes it takes a light tap on the shoulder - or a slap in the face - to put things in perspective and bring a brighter note to our seemingly difficult times. One such tap is the story of Ben Underwood, a young boy who, due to the onset of cancer, has been blind since the age of three.

While this difference could - and certainly has - limited the goals, dreams, and daily activities of many, this particular case was different. Not only did Ben decide at age six that he was through using a cane, but three years before he began using a technique called echolocation, the same method used by bats and dolphins to perceive their environments.

It soon became apparent that Ben’s skills were off the charts, even called ‘extraordinary’ and ‘pushing the limits of human perception’ by medical doctors. Simply by using a series of clicks and gauging the time it takes for the sound to return and in exactly what fashion, he can operate in the world like any other child.

He skateboards, plays kickball with the neighborhood kids, and even chases down his brother to return a sneak-attack tackle. Ben can even tell the difference between a parked car and truck, all through the use of clicks with his mouth. Simply amazing.

The point of this story, as far as we’re concerned, isn’t that Ben Underwood has an amazing ability but that he took a weakness and turned it into a source of creativity, skill, and strength. He didn’t dwell, nor did he accept a state of life below his desires. Instead, he accepted the facts and moved forward with his life.

It’s the example of overcoming adversity that I want you to take to heart. If a young boy can function and maneuver without the use of his eyes, can’t you find a way to overcome your challenges? Can’t you find a way to get the things you want and to help those you care about do the same?

Ben is really impressive not because of what he can do but by doing it.  He did not live by his limitations but instead, he found a way on how to cross it.  What’s inspiring here is that he did not live by his limitations.  He achieved his goal in his own way.  Likewise, we should not let ourselves fail in our goals.  We can find other ways on how to achieve it even if we lack other skills or maybe resources.
